Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL invite all fans to attend and participate in a pre-game jersey auction this Saturday, March 31, starting at 5:30 pm prior to the Royals matchup against the Trenton Titans at the Sovereign Center (7:05pm) on Fan Appreciation Night in the final game of the regular season.
The pre-game jersey auction will put the classic bright orange V&M Towing Warm-Up Jerseys, which the Royals wore with positive results in last Sunday's 5-3 win over the Titans, on the auction block. The pre-game auction will be held in the Sovereign Center Coca-Cola Lounge starting at 5:30 pm on Saturday night. Fans are invited to enter the Sovereign Center at the Administrative Entrance (8th and Penn Street Entrance-located outside of Section 109) beginning at 5:00 pm. But please note that only ticketed patrons to the Royals game later that evening against the Titans will be permitted entrance to the auction. Fans will receive auction numbers upon entrance to the Sovereign Center. Please note that the Royals players will not be present during the pre-game auction.
The net proceeds from the pre-game auction of the V&M Towing Warm-Up Jerseys will go to benefit the Gilmore-Henne Foundation, which is led by NFL football players John Gilmore and Chad Henne and seeks to renovate parks and recreation areas throughout Berks County as part of the foundation's mission. Gilmore, a graduate of Wilson High School and currently a tight end with the New Orleans Saints will be here for the auction. There apparently is no truth to the rumor that Head Coach Larry Courville will be poised with a one-game contract offer for Gilmore to suit up in Saturday's game for the Royals.
Full Season Ticket Holders will have another opportunity to upgrade their wardrobes after the game when the Royals will give up the 'Shirt Off Our Backs'. Full STH names will be drawn at random after the game with the winner also getting an opportunity to be photographed with the Royals' player and the jersey. Please note that Full STHs must be present to win; and, for all winners, the jersey itself will actually be delivered after the conclusion of the season-playoffs included-because the sweaters will hopefully get another heavy round of usage in the post-season.
The Royals return to action on Friday (March 30, 2012 @ 7:35 pm) when the team travels to First Arena in Elmira, New York, to face the Elmira Jackals in the final road game of the regular season. Friday's game night broadcast will start at 7:05 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading. Streaming audio is available free of charge courtesy of America One through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. As with all Royals' road games this season, Friday's game will be televised locally in Berks County on BCTV courtesy of Boscov's Travel and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
