Greenville Ownership Transfer Approved
March 29, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced on Thursday that the Board of Governors has unanimously approved the Transfer of Controlling Interest in the Greenville Road Warriors membership.
The Board approved the transfer from MFP-NS Hockey Greenville, LLC, owned by Neil Smith and Steve Posner, to Chestnut Street Sports, LLC, owned by Fred Festa.
"On behalf of the ECHL and our Board of Governors, I would like to welcome Fred Festa as the new owner of the Greenville Road Warriors," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. "After looking at several markets, we are pleased Fred selected Greenville. We share his view that it is a vibrant market with great long term potential. I would also like to thank Neil Smith and Steve Posner for bringing ECHL hockey back to Greenville, and providing a very entertaining and competitive team over the past two seasons."
"I'm very excited to have the opportunity to expand the Road Warriors brand from the foundation established by Neil Smith and Steve Posner, said Festa.
Greenville is in its second season, after transferring the membership from Johnstown, Pa., where the team was one of the ECHL's original five teams in 1988-89. The Road Warriors captured the South Division title in their first season in 2010-11, and have surpassed the 40-win mark for the second consecutive year this season.
