
Forward Billy Ryan Loaned to Hershey

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals, announced today that forward Billy Ryan has been called up to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Ryan, 26, skated in 12 games with the Stingrays this season scoring nine goals and three assists for 12 points. The Milton, Massachusetts, native joined the Stingrays after appearing in three contests with the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL) recording one assist. A third-round draft pick (80th overall) by the New York Rangers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Ryan saw ECHL action with the Wheeling Nailers during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons totaling 34 points (15g, 19a) in 34 games. Before turning pro, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound forward attended the University of Maine for four seasons.
The Stingrays wrap up a five-game road trip on Friday, March 30 against the Road Warriors at 7:35 p.m. at the Bi-Lo Center and return to the North Charleston Coliseum for Fan Appreciation Night and The Post and Courier Hall of Fame Night on Saturday, March 31 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. The Stingrays are giving away seven game-worn jerseys from the 2010-11 season, 2011-12 team photos and there is free parking! Former Stingrays player and coach Jared Bednar will be inducted into The Post and Courier Stingrays Hall of Fame during the first intermission.
