All-ECHL First Team Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Thursday announced its All-ECHL First Team for 2011-12 as determined in a vote of ECHL coaches, broadcasters, media relations directors and media, who were asked to select a goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards.

2011-12 All-ECHL First Team

G - Jeff Jakaitis, Gwinnett Gladiators (26 gp, 18-5-3, 2.03 GAA, .930 save pct.)

D - Bryan Miller, Alaska Aces (70 gp, 10g, 34a, 44 pts., +3)

D - Aaron Schneekloth, Colorado Eagles (70 gp, 20g, 41a, 61 pts., Even)

F - Chad Costello, Colorado Eagles (47 gp, 29g, 47a, 76 pts., +21)

F - Dustin Gazley, Elmira Jackals (70 gp, 23g, 58a, 81 pts., +13) F - Eric Lampe, Las Vegas Wranglers (50 gp, 36g, 27a, 63 pts., +19)

Coaches - Rob Murray, Alaska Aces and John Wroblewski, Gwinnett Gladiators

The ECHL will announce the Community Service Award winner on Friday.

Jeff Jakaitis of the Gwinnett Gladiators leads the ECHL with five shutouts and is tied for the league lead with a .930 save percentage while ranking second with a 2.03 goals-against average. He tied the ECHL record with three consecutive shutouts from Dec. 17-28, and his shutout streak of 215:31 was within 20 minutes of the league record. His five shutouts set a new Gwinnett club record for shutouts in a season. Jakaitis twice earned ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors, and was named ECHL Goaltender of the Month for December.

Bryan Miller of the Alaska Aces is tied for fourth among defensemen with 44 points (10g-34a), is tied for third among blue liners with seven power-play goals and is tied for second with 23 power-play points. He is the only Ace to appear in all 70 of the team's games this season. Last season, Miller was named to the All-ECHL Second Team .

Aaron Schneekloth of the Colorado Eagles leads all defensemen in goals (20), points (61), shots (199), power-play goals (9), power-play assists (20) and power-play points (29) while he is second in assists (41).

Chad Costello of the Colorado Eagles ranks fourth in the ECHL with 76 points (29g-47a) in just 47 games, and he is tied for third in the league in plus-minus at +21. His 47 assists are tied for fifth in the league. He also appeared in 11 American Hockey League games this season with Springfield and Worcester tallying four assists.

Dustin Gazley of the Elmira Jackals, who was named to the All-Rookie Team yesterday, leads the league with 81 points (23g-58a) and is tied for the league lead with 58 assists. He is tied for first among rookies with 17 power-play assists, and is tied for fourth among first-year players with 23 goals and is third among rookies with 21 power-play points.

Eric Lampe of the Las Vegas Wranglers leads the league with 36 goals, is 12th with 63 points and is tied for the league lead with seven game-winning goals. He is tied for 10th in the league in plus-minus at +19. He also has appeared in 16 games with Lake Erie and Hamilton of the American Hockey League, registering three points (2g-1a).

In his first season as head coach of Alaska, Rob Murray has led the Aces to their sixth division title in nine ECHL seasons. The Aces are 43-17-10 for 96 points, and have clinched the number one seed in the Western Conference and a bye in the Conference Quarterfinals.

John Wroblewski has led Gwinnett back to the Kelly Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2009 in his first season with the Gladiators. Gwinnett has clinched the South Division title with a record of 41-18-11 for 93 points.
