
San Jose Recalls Thunder Goaltender Heemskerk to Worcester Sharks

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announced San Jose has recalled rookie goaltender Thomas Heemskerk from the Thunder to the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League.
Heemskerk has appeared in two games this season with Worcester. The 6-foot and 195 pound goaltender has also collected a 13-12-0 record, .893 save percentage and 3.27 goals against average in 25 games for the Thunder in 2011-12.
He was originally assigned from Worcester on Oct. 19, 2011 and earned a win in his pro debut on Oct. 22 at Colorado with 27 saves.
Heemskerk was signed by San Jose to a standard entry level contract on September 29, 2009 and has suited up for the Sharks in the last three preseason rookie tournaments. He went 1-1-0 with a 2.19 goals against average and .929 save percentage in two games against Calgary and Winnipeg in the 2011 Vancouver Canucks YoungStars Tournament.
The Thunder returns to play tomorrow at 6:10 p.m. (1280 KWSX/StocktonThunder.com) against the Idaho Steelheads at Century Link Arena.
The schedule for the opening round of the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs will be announced soon.
