December 3, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals extended their winning streak to four games with a 3-1 victory over the Reading Royals on Saturday night at First Arena. The four-game winning streak is the longest for Elmira in 2011-2012 and is the first for the club since Feb. 25 - Mar. 2 of last season.

John Scrymgeour put home a centering feed from Yannick Tifu at 4:47 of the first period, giving Reading a 1-0 lead.

Jordan Pietrus drove a puck off of Reading netminder Karel St. Laurent and into the net from the slot on a feed from Rob Bellamy at 16:25, tying the game 1-1.

Elmira scored its first power-play goal since Nov. 18 moments later when Mike Radja fired a puck past the glove of St. Laurent off of a set up by Mike Ratchuk, giving the Jackals the lead at 18:25.

After a scoreless second period, the Royals threatened to tie in third period, outshooting Elmira 14-6. Brian Stewart stood tall in net for the Jackals, however, turning aside each Reading bid.

Late in the third period, Kevin King sprung Dustin Gazley on a breakaway. St. Laurent stopped Gazley's shot, but Radja pushed the puck from the goal line into the net to put Elmira up 3-1 at 16:57.

In the win, Jackals head coach Pat Bingham earned his 100th ECHL victory as a head coach, one night after garnering his 300th head-coaching win.

Stewart stopped 28 of 29 shots, improving to 7-3-0-0 in 2011-2012. St. Laurent's record dropped to 2-6-0-0 on the season, with the rookie making 33 saves.

The Jackals begin a seven-game road trip tomorrow in Trenton, and will head to Florida, Chicago, Kalamazoo, and Wheeling before returning home to host the Nailers on Dec. 26 on 4-for-$44 night.
