Aces Extend Condors Troubles, 2-0; Same Two Teams Battle Saturday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Gerald Coleman made 29 saves for a perfect night as the Alaska Aces (14-4-1-1) downed the Bakersfield Condors (5-14-2-0, 12pts) 2-0 in front of 4,545 fans at Rabobank Arena Friday night.

Despite an early lead in shots for the Condors, the Aces drew first blood. RW Wes Goldie scored on a 2-on-1 at 6:59 to make it 1-0. G Bryan Pitton earned the start for the third straight game for the Condors and made 13 saves int he opening period. Shots were 14-10 Alaska through 20 minutes.

Bakersfield outshot Alaska in a tightly played second frame, 10-7, but it was the Aces again lighting the lamp. C Tyler Ruegsegger slipped home a rebound with 2:19 left in the frame to make it 2-0. The Condors came close with a couple shots ringing off the post, but they remained without a goal for their efforts.

Defense prevailed in the third, with Coleman completing the shutout, though the Condors lead in shots 9-8. Bakersfield had their chances with a pair of power plays in the period, but they could get nothing past the Aces 'D'.
