TOLEDO, OH - A dominant performance on the power play led the Greenville Road Warriors to a 4-2 win over the Toledo Walleye on Friday night. The win improved Greenville's record to 11-7-0 on the season.

One year ago the Road Warriors spoiled the South Carolina Stingrays' Teddy Bear Toss game by shutting out the Stingrays. This game would not follow the same script as Toledo's Rob Flick netted the first goal of the game 10:59 into the first with Toledo on a power play. The Road Warriors returned the favor, though, with Connor Shields denting the twine at 15:53. Coming off of the bench, Shields took a Kale Kerbashian pass in the high slot and ripped a wrist shot past Toledo goalie Carter Hutton. The goal was Shields' third of the season.

Greenville and Toledo traded goals in the second period with Greenville having to battle back to tie the game for the second time. Toledo grabbed the 2-1 lead on Chris DiDomenico's second goal of the season at 15:43. DiDomenco's goal was aided by Jeff Caister breaking his stick on a shot attempt in the Toledo end and being unable to deflect DiDomenico's shot. Greenville netminder Nic Riopel shut the door from there and allowed for Marc-Olivier Vallerand to knot the score with a power play tally at 19:16. Vallerand beat Hutton with a high, hard wrist shot off of a set up by Brett Robinson and Wes Cunningham.

In the third, Riopel and the Road Warriors were able to keep Toledo off the board and also score twice to seal the victory. Riopel made a game-changing save on a shorthanded breakaway by Kyle Rogers at the midway point of the period and the Road Warriors rewarded the save with a power play goal moments later. Robinson banged home his sixth goal of the season from the edge of the crease and extended his point streak to three games. Trailing by one, Toledo pulled Hutton for the extra attacker with 2:41 left to play, but Vallerand scored into the empty net to seal the win for Greenville.

Riopel stopped 25 shots en route to his 10th win of the season. Greenville was 3-for-6 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
