Chicago Express News Release

Toledo, OH - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, dropped their second straight game by a 4-1 score to Toledo at the Huntington Centre on Saturday night.

For the second straight game, the Walleye opened up the scoring, this time with a power play exactly 10:00 into the game. D Gleason Fournier fed a pass to LW Aaron Lewicki, who tipped the puck past G Paul Dainton and gave Toledo a 1-0 lead. The Walleye stretched their advantage to 2-0 when RW Trevor Parkes deflected a shot past Dainton at 13:08, and appeared to be poised to take that advantage into the first intermission. However, RW Chaz Johnson received a pass from F Pierre-Luc Faubert and buried a shot with just 16.2 seconds left in the opening period, and pulled the Express back to within one at the end of the frame. The Express outshot Toledo 9-5 in the first frame.

An already feisty contest got rougher in the second period, as 48 penalty minutes were assessed during the second stanza, including the second fight of the game between F Bobby Robins and Toledo D Matt Krug just 31 seconds into the period. Toledo scored the lone goal of the frame, however, as Lewicki scored his second of the game shorthanded at 17:18, making the score 3-1 at the end of the second period.

Parkes joined Lewicki with two goals in the game when he picked up a rebound in front of the Chicago net in the third period, and placed a backhand shot just inside the right post to increase the Toledo lead to 4-1. It was the only goal in the frame, as the Walleye held the Express off the board in each of the last two periods, and have surrendered just one goal to Chicago in each of the last three games between the two clubs.
