Jackals Add Goaltender Ellis, Release

The Elmira Jackals announced Saturday that they have added goaltender Julien Ellis and have released goaltender Pier-Olivier Pelletier.

Ellis, a two-time ECHL All-Star, has skated all of this season with the Kalamazoo Wings and was claimed off waivers by the Jackals on Thursday.

During his second all-star season with the Victoria Salmon Kings in 2007-2008, Ellis won 24 of his 42 starts, posting a.908 save percentage and a 3.18 goals-against average. Last season, Ellis was 11-8-4 with a.915 save percentage and a 2.70 goals-against average.

Ellis was selected in the sixth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks.

Pelletier started three games this season for the Jackals, posting a 1-2-0 record with an.869 save percentage and a 3.65 goals-against average.

The Jackals host Reading on Saturday night at 7:35 p.m. at First Arena and Johnstown on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
