Victoria, BC - In a Friday night matchup the Victoria Salmon Kings and Stockton Thunder met in the second contest of a three-game set at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Victoria's David Shantz got the start in net while Stockton countered with Andrew Perugini.

The lone goal of the opening period came off the stick of Jimmy Sharrow at the 10:14 mark. Off a faceoff in the neutral zone, Taylor Ellington fed the puck to Sharrow on the right wing side. The Salmon Kings defenseman moved towards the offensive blue line and fired a dump-in style shot that slipped past Perugini and into the far side of the net. Sharrow's goal was his fourth of the season and gave Victoria a 1-0 lead into the second period.

Both goaltenders highlighted the middle frame as neither team could hit the scoreboard. Shantz and Perugini kept busy making 13 and 16 saves respectively to send the teams into the second intermission with the same 1-0 Salmon Kings advantage.

Andy Brandt tallied the only goal of the third in the final minute of the game as the Salmon Kings were facing a Thunder power play with the Stockton net empty. Brandt found himself on a shorthanded breakaway and made no mistake in burying his eighth marker of the campaign into an uncontested cage to secure the win. Salmon Kings 2 Thunder 0.

Both Victoria and Stockton went 0/2=0.0% on the power play. The Salmon Kings outshot the Thunder 34-30.

Victoria and Stockton finish their three-game set tomorrow night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre with puck drop at 7:05 p.m. Before tomorrow's game, fans have the chance to get their Christmas picture taken with Marty the Marmot! Japan Camera will be on hand shooting and printing photos by donation to the Mustard Seed. Employees of Lindt Chocolate will also be in attendance tomorrow night to provide a sample pack of chocolates to the first 400 fans into the building.
