Isotopes Fall to 51s Despite Oberholtzer's Strong Start
Published on May 15, 2018 under Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Isotopes starting pitcher Brett Oberholtzer limited the 51s (16-23) to two runs Monday night, but that would be just enough offense for Las Vegas as it defeated Albuquerque (19-20), 2-1, at Cashman Field. The loss ends the Isotopes' streak of three consecutive series won.
Oberholtzer yielded nine hits, one walk and struck out five batters in 7.0 innings on the mound. The two runs he allowed both came on solo home runs to Las Vegas' Phillip Evans. Oberholtzer became the first Isotope this season to go 7.0 innings and the fourth to record a quality start.
Albuquerque's offense was held scoreless for the first seven innings of the contest before Ryan McMahon drove in its lone run with an RBI single in the eighth. McMahon was responsible for two of the Isotopes' five hits on the night, as Albuquerque did not record an extra-base hit for the first time in 2018.
The Isotopes wrap up their road trip Tuesday night in Las Vegas as they send right-hander Antonio Senzatela (1-0, 1.00) to the hill. Vance Worley (0-2, 12.00) will get the start for the 51s. First pitch from Cashman Field is slated for 8:05 p.m.?
