August 17, 2019 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (59-63) took both games of a doubleheader against the Indianapolis Indians (60-63) on Friday night at victory Field.
Game 1: IronPigs 8 @ Indians 4 (8 innings)
Lehigh Valley scored four runs in the extra frame as they topped Indianapolis 8-4 in eight innings.
Austin Listi, Nick Hundley and Jose Pirela each drove in runs in the top of the eighth against Indy reliever Dovydas Neverauskas (3-3).
After scoring four runs, two earned, against Pigs' pitcher JoJo Romero in the bottom of the first inning, the Indians managed just one hit over the next seven innings.
Listi went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Phil Gosselin, Ali Castillo and Andrew Romine each had multi-hit games.
Connor Brogdon (2-1) earned the victory after tossing 1.2 no-hit innings with three strikeouts.
Game 2: Indians 2 @ IronPigs 7
The Pigs scored six runs in the first two innings and never looked back as they completed the Friday sweep with a 7-2 victory.
Listi and Malquin Canelo each had RBI base hits in the bottom of the second to put the IronPigs ahead 2-0. After a third-inning Castillo sac fly, Deivy Grullon, Romine and Listi hit back-to-back-to-back solo home runs off Indy starter Cody Ponce (0-1) in his Triple-A debut.
This was the first time in the IronPigs' 12-year history that three consecutive hitters have hit home runs.
Indianapolis pulled two back against IronPigs starter Jose Taveras in the top of the fifth when Jake Elmore hit an RBI double to plate Steven Baron and Mitchell Tolman followed with a single to bring Elmore home.
Kyle Dohy (6-5) then entered and recorded the game's final seven outs, two via strikeout.
Lehigh Valley played as the "home" team at Victory Field in a make-up of a May 12 rainout at Coca-Cola Park.
The Pigs and Indians will continue the four-games-in-three-days series Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Ramon Rosso (1-2, 4.91 ERA) is scheduled to start against Yefry Ramirez (2-4, 4.11 ERA).
