
IronPigs Shut Out by WooSox

Worcester, MA - For the first time this season the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (34-35) were shutout as they were held scoreless by the Worcester Red Sox (37-34) in a 5-0 defeat on Wednesday night at Polar Park.
The WooSox racked up 12 hits in the game, 11 singles, scoring single runs in five of their eight turns at the plate to down the IronPigs.
In the first inning, Ronaldo Hernandez started the scoring for the WooSox with a two-out RBI single and Nick Sogard followed in the second with another two-out RBI single to make it 2-0.
In the fourth, Sogard picked up his second RBI of the day with a sacrifice fly before an RBI single for Narcisco Crook made it 4-0 in the fifth.
An RBI base knock for Wilyer Abreu brought home the fifth and final run of the game for the WooSox in the sixth.
Kyle Barraclough (1-0) posted six shutout innings for the win for the WooSox, allowing just one hit and four walks, striking out two.
Nick Nelson (0-1) suffered the loss for the IronPigs, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks, striking out five in three-plus innings.
The IronPigs and WooSox continue their series on Thursday, June 22, at 6:45 p.m. at Polar Park.
