IronPigs fall to RailRiders

(Moosic, PA) - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (7-2) beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (6-3) on Thursday evening by a score of 5-2.

The IronPigs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Ryan Cordell scored on a throwing error by Derek Dietrich. The RailRiders tied the game against David Parkinson (0-1) in the bottom of the third inning when Armando Alvarez scored on a fielding error by Cordell.

Ronald Torreyes gave the Pigs a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning when he hit an RBI single against Nick Green. Robinson Chirinos was able to give the RailRiders a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when he hit a two-run home run against Parkinson. The home run for Chirinos was his second of the season.

Ryan LaMarre hit a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning against Kyle Dohy to extend the RailRiders lead to 5-2.

Ethan Evanko pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings for the IronPigs in relief. Bryan Mitchell pitched a scoreless inning in relief of Evanko. Reggie McClain (2-0) got the win for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Former IronPigs Luis Garcia earned his second save

by closing out the game in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The IronPigs and RailRiders play at 6:35 p.m. on Friday evening at PNC Field.
