Iowa Cubs News Release

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (74-61) took the series finale over the Omaha Storm Chasers (62-71) by a score of 9-3, Sunday at Principal Park.

As they did last night, Iowa got out to an early start, scoring in the first. Today they put up three runs on a two-run single from Yonathan Perlaza and an error.

Up 3-0, Caleb Kilian went to work, tossing 4.2 innings without allowing an earned run. The righty surrendered one unearned run on three hits and two walks, striking out two along the way.

The one run came on an RBI ground out from Logan Porter in the fourth, making it a 3-1 game. Iowa extended their lead to 5-1 in the fifth on a two-run home run from Jared Young. The deep fly marked his sixth of the series, hitting one in five of the six games.

Already up by four, Iowa doubled their lead on one swing of the bat from Pete Crow-Armstrong. The Cubs' top prospect clubbed a grand slam, his second of the series against Omaha.

John Rave clubbed a two-run home run in the ninth, but that is all Omaha would score, as the I-Cubs salvaged the series with back-to-back wins.

POSTGAME NOTES:

Pete Crow-Armstrong went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, a double, a home run and four runs batted in out of the leadoff spot. The outfielder came just a triple shy of the cycle.

Iowa's top four hitters combined for nine of the team's 11 hits today, scoring six of their nine runs.

Iowa will get the day off tomorrow before hosting the St. Paul Saints for the final six-game series at Principal Park. First pitch on Tuesday night is set for 6:38 pm.
