Iowa Cubs News Release

In response to the Hurricane Katrina disaster in the Gulf Coast, the Iowa Cubs will host several fund-raising efforts during their final home stand against the New Orleans Zephyrs this weekend at Principal Park to assist the Red Cross and their disaster relief efforts.

During Friday's game, which begins at 7:05 p.m., a silent auction of autographed memorabilia will take place just inside gate B at Principal Park with all proceeds from the auction going to the Red Cross.

On Sunday, September 4, anyone making a donation of five dollars or more at the Red Cross table outside gate B at Principal Park, will receive a free general admission ticket to the 1:05 p.m. Iowa Cubs game against the New Orleans Zephyrs.

During Sunday's game, another sports memorabilia auction will take place and will include a set of Iowa Cubs jerseys. All proceeds from the Sunday auction will go to the Red Cross as well.

On the final day of the 2005 Iowa Cubs season, Monday September 5, the Cubs will again offer a free general admission ticket to anyone making a donation of five dollars or more at the Red Cross table at gate B at Principal Park.

"We hope that a lot of people will come out and make donations to help the relief efforts of the Red Cross," said Iowa Cubs President Sam Bernabe. "We just want to help out those in need as much as we can this weekend."
