Four Unearned Runs in Sixth Derail E-Train

(Albuquerque, NM) - Express reliever Brooks Kieschnick got two quick outs in the sixth inning on Wednesday night at Albuquerque's Isotopes Park. But four unearned runs, three costly errors, and the three homers later, Round Rock found itself down 9-4. The Express lost its third straight by a final of 11-6.
The scoring parade on a wind-blown night, with gusts to left of up to twenty miles an hour, began with a solo homer off the bat of Albuquerque Mike Colangelo, his sixth in the last five games, for a 1-0 Isotopes lead.
Express starter Roberto Giron helped himself with an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1, after Barry Wesson had singled, stolen second and moved to third on a throwing error by the catcher.
Sears launched the first of three homers, two of them three run shots, and Albuquerque led 4-1.
Chris Tremie's two run double in the fifth, and an RBI single from Alex Eckelman tied it at four.
But the Isotopes came back with a solo run in the fifth, before the Express surrendered those four unearned runs in the sixth to make it 9-4.
Kieschnick helped the Round Rock cause with a solo blast into the Albuquerque bullpen, cutting the lead to 9-5. Round Rock's final run came on an RBI single from Barry Wesson, scoring Royce Huffman, who singled to lead off the inning.
Albuquerque came right back with a run in the seventh and Sears hit his third homer of the night, making it a final, 11-6.
The final game of the series takes place at 7:15 on Thursday night in Albuquerque. Brian Tollberg goes for the E-Train against former Express hurler Travis Smith.
