Iowa Cubs News Release

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (34-28) lost by a score of 7-4 to the Indianapolis Indians (29-33) in the series opener at Principal Park, Tuesday night.

Indianapolis got on the board first, getting a solo home run from Jared Triolo in the second inning. Their lead stayed 1-0 until the fifth, when they knocked starter Nick Neidert out of the game.

They did so with four runs highlighted by a two-run home run from Henry Davis. Trailing 5-0, Iowa got two runs of their own on a home run from Jared Young and an RBI ground out by Yonathan Perlaza.

Young cut the deficit in half in the eighth inning with a two-run home run, his second home run of the game and fourth in his last six games. Ryan Vilade grew the lead back to three for Indianapolis with an RBI single in the ninth.

Iowa brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom half of the ninth, but Carmen Mlodzinski recorded the final three outs to take game one of the series by a score of 7-4.
