Charlotte Knights News Release

(DURHAM, NC) -- Left fielder Víctor Reyes has certainly made his mark during the first half of the 2023 season. Charlotte's team leader in nearly every offensive category added to his remarkable offensive numbers on Tuesday.

Reyes launched his team-leading 11th home run of the season and drove home three of Charlotte's 10 runs in a 10-7 win over the Durham Bulls in game one of a six-game series from Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC on Tuesday night. Reyes led the way for Charlotte, going 3-for-4 at the plate with the home run and three RBI. For the season, he leads the team in batting average (.318), home runs (11) and RBI (50).

In addition to a solid game from Reyes, right fielder Oscar Colás also had a three-hit game. In the top of the fifth inning, Reyes and Colás hit back-to-back solo home runs. The home run was the second of the season for Colás.

The Knights added another home run in Tuesday's opener thanks to a two-run shot from designated hitter Stephen Piscotty in the top of the seventh inning. The home run was his fifth of the season. In all, the Knights combined to record 11 hits on the night.

Charlotte starter Garrett Davila was sharp over the first four innings of the game, allowing just one run over that span. In the fifth, Davila got into trouble and was charged with two runs in the inning before being replaced by Charlotte RHP Declan Cronin. In all, Davila allowed three runs over 4.2 innings pitched and did not factor in the decision. He fanned eight batters on the night.

Cronin (1-0, 2.89) earned the win after he recorded just one out in the fifth inning. Chicago White Sox RHP Jimmy Lambert continued his major league rehab stint and tossed a scoreless inning. RHP Bryan Shaw allowed a run in the ninth inning and got into a bases-loaded jam, but held on to earn his first save of the season.

Durham starter Sean Hunley (0-3, 12.67) was hit with the loss after he allowed seven runs on eight hits over five innings. The Knights scored five runs over the first two innings against Hunley.

The Knights will continue the six-game road series against the Durham Bulls (Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) from Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Wednesday night. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch on Wednesday is set for 6:35 p.m. from the DBAP.
