
IceCats Sign Goalies

WORCESTER, MA â It was announced today by St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President/General Manager and Worcester IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations Larry Pleau, that the âCats have signed goaltenders Mike Valley and Kirk Daubenspeck to Professional Tryout Contracts (PTO).
The 27-year old Valley has been skating with the Blues/IceCats ECHL affiliate in Peoria this season, appearing in 31 games. In his first campaign with the Rivermen, the Richmond, British Columbia native has a record of 17-6-6, a 2.27 goals against average, which is currently fifth-best in the ECHL, a .914 save percentage and two shutouts. Valley attended the University of Wisconsin and was a member of the Badgers hockey team from 1996-98.
A veteran of seven professional seasons, Daubenspeck (DAW-behn-spek) joins the IceCats after backstopping the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) in 34 games. The Madison, Wisconsin transplant has a current record of 22-10-2 for the Rays, a 2.55 GAA and an impressive .921 save percentage. Accolades for the 1992 draft selection of the Philadelphia Flyers include a Kelly Cup Championship in 2001 with South Carolina and All-America honors in 1996-97 at the University of Wisconsin. He has skated in 311 professional games, assembling 171 wins, 103 losses and 27 ties.
The IceCats are on the road in Hartford and Providence on Saturday and Sunday, before returning to Worcester's Centrum Centre for a 7:05 PM face-off with the Lowell Lock Monsters on Friday, February 27th. For ticket information, please contact the IceCats at 800-830-CATS.
