Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs jumped to an early 1-0 lead and goaltender Danielle Dube kept the Bakersfield Condors on edge by stopping 29 of 31 shots in an effort to stop Bakersfield's win streak. A power-play goal by Jeff Goldie at 14:35 in the third kept the Ice Dogs (17-32-3) from earning their second consecutive game since Jan. 31 and extended the Condor's (31-15-9) win streak to five.

Jamie O'Leary put the Ice Dogs up early on his 16th goal of the year. O'Leary fed right-winger Tyler Willis from behind the net, who passed back to O'Leary in front of the face-off circle. The team leader in goals and points blasted the shot past Condor goaltender Kevin St. Pierre at 2:40 in the first.

Bakersfield answered later in the first on Jamie Cooke's goal. J.J. Wrobel attacked the net from the right side and centered to Cooke. Cooke, coming off his first hat-trick performance this year, had an easy tap-in at 12:33.

After a scoreless second period, Jeff Goldie put in the game-winner on a power-play at 14:35 in the third. Following a tripping penalty to Pat Brush, the Condors patiently waited for an opening in the league's next-to-last home penalty killing unit. Christian Skoryna centered to Goldie, who beat Long Beach netminder Danielle Dube stick-side.

Despite the loss, Dube (1-4-0) made many spectacular saves, including a breakaway by Bakersfield in the second period. The defeat drops Long Beach to 2-9-1 in the month of February.
