Goaltender Patrick Couture Recalled to AHL

Columbia, SC, February 26, 2003— The Columbia Inferno announce that goaltender Patrick Couture will be recalled to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.

Couture, who is under an East Coast Hockey League contract, is currently ranked number one among goaltenders in the ECHL with a record of 24-10-0, 2.43 GAA and .915 save percentage. To date, he has recorded four shutouts in the 2002-2003 season.

The Inferno goaltending tandem of Couture (6-1-0) and Josh Blackburn (5-0-0) has won 11 of the last 12 games.

"Patrick has been consistent over the past 10 weeks and certainly deserves this opportunity," said Coach Scott White. "Call-ups are apart of the ECHL and teams have to adapt to changes in your lineup."

The Inferno will face off against the intra-state rival the South Carolina Stingrays Thursday, February 27th at 7:05pm at the Carolina Coliseum. Friday, the Inferno is on the road to Greensboro and back home on Saturday, March 1st to face the Columbus Cottonmouths. GAME TIME HAS CHANGED TO 8PM.
