Florida Everblades News Release

Estero, FL - The Florida Everblades President/GM Craig Brush announced today that defenseman Kyle Kos was acquired from the Dayton Bombers (ECHL) in exchange for Florida defenseman Lee Ruff. The ECHL trade Deadline was Wednesday at 3 PM.

Kos was selected in the second round of the 1997 NHL entry draft and has played in 190 professional games during his four year professional career. The Hope, British Columbia native played 23 games in Arkansas (ECHL) this season before he was recalled to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League. Kos was then sent to Dayton (ECHL) where he saw action in 9 games and registered one assist. "We had an opportunity to go out and get a player who was selected in the second round of the NHL entry draft. We feel he can come in and be an impact player. The downside of a move like this is to get quality players you have to sacrifice quite a bit and Lee Ruff is a quality player who will be missed by this organization" stated Brush on Wednesday afternoon.

Ruff was acquired by Florida from the New Orleans Brass (ECHL) last season and played 49 games for the Blades registering 6 goals and 11 assists.

In related news, the Everblades released goaltender Cam McCormick on Wednesday afternoon.

The Everblades travel to Pensacola to battle the Ice Pilots at 8:05 PM on Friday night. Florida then travels to Baton Rouge to take on the Kingfish at 8:05 PM on Saturday and 5:05 PM on Sunday. The Blades return home for a pair of games against the Augusta Lynx at 7:30 PM on Friday, March 7th and Saturday, March 8th. All 72 regular season games can be heard on Sportsradio 770 AM and on the web at www.floridaeverblades.com.
