Ice Dogs Shutout Roadrunners, 5-0

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs (13-11-2) continued their stellar play of late, shutting out the Phoenix Roadrunners (8-13-2) by a score of 5-0. The victory matched the Ice Dogs' longest win streak of the season at three, as they have now won five of their last six.

Jeff Drummond scored the first goal of the game at 10:40 of the opening period, from Kevin Ulanski and Ash Goldie. Then at 17:29, Drummond scored his second goal of the game for his first multi-point performance of his professional career. Ulanski and Goldie also assisted on the second goal.

Chris Kenady made it a 3-0 game just 1:07 into the second period, with help from Christian Larrivee and Justin Aikins. Both Larrivee and Aikins extended their point streaks to six games with the assists. Just 1:15 later, Luke Fritshaw scored his first as a pro, with assists to Sean McAslan and Mac Faulkner. Then at 12:02, Aikins scored on the power play to make it 5-0 with the helpers going to Larrivee and Steeve Villeneuve.

Greg Hewitt earned his first shutout of the season, making 24 saves, while Mike Mole of the Roadrunners made 13 saves before being replaced by Mathieu Chouinard in the second period. The Ice Dogs finished 1-8 on the power play while killing off all three Phoenix chances.
