Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - Todd Alexander's two goals and three points sent the Stockton Thunder (5-10-3, 13 pts.) to a 5-3 loss to the Las Vegas Wranglers (17-4-2, 36 pts.) on Friday night, in front of 4,252 at the Stockton Arena.
Las Vegas started the scoring 58 seconds into the first period when Alexander scored his seventh goal of the year, on a wrist shot from the left circle. The Wranglers hiked the lead to 2-0 16:36 into the period on a Tyler Sloan marker.
50 seconds into the second period, Dominic Soucy put Stockton on the scoreboard by cutting the lead to 2-1. Four minutes later, Casey Bartzen tied the score at 2-2, jamming in a rebound in the crease. Derek Edwardson of Las Vegas broke the tie with a 20 foot wrist shot, at the 18:30 mark. Twenty-two seconds later, Chris Stanley's one timer from the slot beat Jake Moreland's glove side for a 4-2 lead.
Both teams dueled at the same score in the third period until Matt Dzieduszycki's empty net goal from center ice put the game away with 55 seconds left. The Thunder's Joel Irwin then knocked in a consolation goal with one second remaining.
Wranglers goaltender Marc Magliarditi ended the game with 26 saves while Jake Moreland finished with 25 for Stockton.
