TRENTON, NJ - Scott Bertoli's historic night and late-game heroics helped the Trenton Titans to a 4-3 shootout win over the Dayton Bombers in front of 4,020 at Sovereign Bank Arena.

On a night when Bertoli, Ned Havern and Jim Henkel each tallied a goal and two assists, it was Henkel who broke a scoreless tie at 10:49 of the first period with his first goal as a Titan.

Down 1-0 after one period, the Bombers would answer back in the second with goals by Matt Herneisen and Mark Flood to help Dayton to a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission.

Havern was able to knot the score 2-2 with a wrap aroundshot that beat Bombers goalie Mike Ayers at 7:02 of the third. Bertoli's assist on the goal gave him 400 points in ECHL and also as a member of the Trenton Titans.

Dayton took back the lead just 1:12 later when Marco Caprara snuck a wrister over the shoulder of Dustin Traylen.

With time dwindling down in regulation and Traylen on the bench in favor of the extra attacker, Bertoli capped off his night with a game-tying goal with just 47.3 seconds left in the game to make the score 3-3

After a scoreless overtime, Havern and Dominic Noel each lit the lamp in the shootout, but it was Matt Maglione's goal in the eight round that clinched the victory for Trenton.

Traylen stopped 37 shots through the extra session and made an ECHL season-high seven saves in the shootout to raise his record to 5-2-0.

Trenton finished 0-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Titans' last game before the holiday take place on Wednesday, December 21 at 7:00pm.

Trenton and Dayton do battle once again on Saturday, December 17 at 7:00pm. Tune into WBCB 1490AM or go to www.trentontitans.com to hear all of the Titans action.
