
Gladiators Storm past Toledo, 6-3

Brad Schell recorded his first professional hat trick and Gwinnett posted three shorthanded goals to beat the Toledo Storm 6-3 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Saturday night.
Adam Keefe gave the Storm a 1-0 lead 11:59 into the first period. Keefe redirected a centering feed out of the corner from Ken Magowan past Gladiators goaltender Chad Collins. Gerry Burke also had an assist on the tally.
Brad Schell exploded for three goals for the Gladiators to help Gwinnett to a 4-1 lead after two periods.
His first, to tie the game at 1-1, came at the 11:04 mark shorthanded. Schell beat Toledo netminder David Cann as he took the shot on a 2-on-1 break with Scott Mifsud.
His second of the game came at the 12:48 mark of the second period beating Cann on a breakaway. Troy Milam picked up an assist on the tally.
Schell completed the hat trick at the 18:58 mark of the second period. Schell stripped a Toledo defenseman at the point on the penalty kill and walked in on a breakaway for the unassisted goal.
Jeff Campbell broke up Schell's natural hat trick scoring 28 seconds before Schell's third goal to give Gwinnett a 3-1 lead at that point. Danny Eberly picked up an assist on the goal for the Gladiators.
Toledo cut the Gladiators lead in half with Keefe's second goal of the night 2:27 into the third period. Jeff Attard and Josh Zavitz picked up the assists on the tally.
Gwinnett regained the three goal advantage on Danny Eberly's 3rd goal of the season. Jeff Dwyer fed Eberly at the point to set up the goal while Cam Brown added an assist on the tally at 6:46 of the third period.
Dwyer recorded his first professional goal on the power play to give Gwinnett a 6-2 lead midway through the third period. Milam an Scott Kelman added the assists on Eberly's seeing eye slap shot at 8:51 of the third period.
Mike James rounded out the scoring posting Toledo's third goal of the game jamming the puck past Gladiators netminder Chad Collins for the tally. Jason Maleyko and Jeff Doyle added the assists on the tally.
Chad Collins recorded his second win of the season with the Gladiators, making 27 saves in the victory. The Gladiators moved into sole possession of first place with the win improving to 13-5-4 as the Florida Everblades lost on Saturday night.
