Alaska Aces News Release

VICTORIA, BC - Shortly after staying unbeaten (9-0-2) with 31 saves in a 5-4 overtime loss at Victoria, Aces goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu has been called up to Alaska's National Hockey League affiliate in St. Louis.

Beckford-Tseu left Victoria early this morning and was scheduled to arrive in St. Louis shortly after 3:00 p.m. Central time. Even after giving up five goals last night, the 21-year-old native of Toronto leads the ECHL with a 1.96 goals against average and is tied for third in save percentage with teammate Matt Underhill at .927.

Already this season, Beckford-Tseu has been named ECHL Goaltender of the Month for October and ECHL Goaltender of the Week twice. He likely will be on the bench tonight when the struggling Blues (6-17-4 overall) play host to the Philadelphia Flyers at 4:00 p.m. ADT. St. Louis hits the road next week for games at Phoenix Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. ADT and at San Jose Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. ADT.

Underhill, who ranks second in the ECHL behind Beckford-Tseu with a 2.08 GAA, will start Alaska's two remaining games against the Salmon Kings.

The Aces boast the best record in the ECHL at 17-3-3, but have seen their lead over second-place Las Vegas trimmed to a single point in the West Division. Both teams are unbeaten in 12 games heading into tonight, when Alaska tangles with Victoria at 6:00 p.m. ADT, with the series finale against the Kings scheduled for Monday at 6:00 p.m. ADT. All Alaska Aces games, home and away, are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com.
