Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs (6-2-0) won their third straight game Friday night, this time beating the Alaska Aces (5-5-1). It was the first time the Ice Dogs have won three straight since December of 2002, when they had a stretch of four consecutive victories.

Chris Madden came up big again, stopping all 30 shots he faced and earning his third shutout of the season in just six starts. Steeve Villenueve scored his first professional goal, giving the Ice Dogs a 1-0 lead with 7 seconds to go in the 2nd period. The goal was assisted by Evan Cheverie and Cory Urquhart, who earned a point in his fourth straight game. Marco Rosa scored his team leading 5th goal of the season, putting it into an empty net with 30 seconds remaining in the game to solidify the win.

Playing his first game in Long Beach, Scott Gomez was held scoreless with only one shot on goal. Alaska goalie, Lance Mayes, made 33 saves despite being credited with the loss. The loss ended Alaska's three game winning streak on the road, the longest streak the Aces have had in over 3 years.

The win moved the Ice Dogs into a tie for 2nd place in the West Division with Idaho. The Ice Dogs and Aces will play each other again tomorrow night in the second half of a 2-game series. Great seats are still available in all sections. For more information call (562) ICE DOGS or visit www.icedogs.com.
