Alaska Aces News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Chris Madden recorded his third shutout in six starts as the Long Beach Ice Dogs blanked Alaska 2-0 Friday in front of 2,121 at Long Beach Arena.

In being shut out for the first time this season, the Aces had their three-game road winning streak snapped, which had been the longest such streak the club had enjoyed in more than three years. Alaska managed just six shots in the first period but fired 24 over the final two frames against Madden, who came in as the ECHL's leading goaltender in both save percentage and goals against average. Steeve Villeneuve blasted a one-timer past Alaska starter Lance Mayes with 6.7 seconds left in the second period, the game's only goal until Marco Rosa registered an empty-netter with 29 seconds left. The Aces were outshot 35-30 and failed to score on any of their three power play opportunities, including their last one, which came with two minutes left in regulation and set up a six-on-four situation.

The Aces (5-5-1 overall) and Ice Dogs line up for a rematch at Long Beach Arena tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. ADT as Alaska's 14-day road trip comes to an end. Alaska slips from second to fourth in the West Division, with the Ice Dogs (6-2) climbing into a tie for second with Idaho, one point behind first-place Bakersfield (6-0-1).

The Aces take the ice Wednesday night at Sullivan Arena in the opener of a three-game series against Victoria at 7:15 p.m. Game two will be held Saturday at 7:15 p.m. as the Aces celebrate those serving in the armed forces with their annual Military Appreciation Night. All three home games against the Salmon Kings will be broadcast live on AM 750 KFQD and available via video webcast at www.alaskaaces.com, courtesy of B2 Networks. Sunday's series finale will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will be followed by the KeyBank Sunday Skate with the Aces.
