Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Condors winning streak came to a close but they still earned a point in a 4-3 shootout loss in front of 4,351 fans at Centennial Garden on Friday night.

Bakersfield fell behind in the first period when the Toledo Storm scored on a power play. Nick Parillo's night began with his second goal of the season and the Storm dominated the opening frame and held a one-goal lead. Todd Alexander's goal at 1:43 of the second frame gave Bakersfield life. They took their first lead of the night at 18:40 of the middle stanza when Ashlee Langdone punched in a rebound for the third power play goal of the game. Not to be outdone, when given a power play less than a minute later the Storm powered back with the tying goal at 19:48.

Outshot 26-10 through two periods, the Condors wouldn't give up and Dennis Shiryaev's third goal of the season came on the power play just 4:33 into the final frame. Reduced to four defensemen through penalty and injury, and just nine forwards, Bakersfield could not keep up with Toledo, surrendering over 40 shots in the game and giving up the equalizer with less than four minutes in regulation. Parillo set up teammate Jason Maleyko at 16:17 to make it 3-3 and send it into the extra session.

In the shootout, none of four Bakersfield shooters could solve Scott Frankhouser, while Parillo and Maris Ziedens tallied to give Toledo the extra point. The Condors remained in command of the West Division and tied with the Trenton Titans for the top record in the league at 6-0-1.

On Saturday the Condors will don special Veteran's Day jerseys for the first Jersey Off Our Backs raffle and auction to benefit the Ronald McDonald House as the San Diego Gulls come back to town. KUZZ 107.9 and McDonald's sponsor the jerseys. Five of them will be raffled off during the night with the rest of them to be up for bid. All games, home and away, can be heard on KGEO AM 1230 with "Condors Countdown" starting 15 minutes prior to the drop of the puck.
