November 13, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, Miss. â In his professional debut Louisiana goaltender Nathan Marsters made 43 regulation saves and four more in the shootout to backstop the IceGators to a 2-1 shootout victory over the Mississippi Sea Wolves at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
"I thought we played real well," Mississippi coach Bob Woods said. "We ran into a hot goaltender in Marsters and our power play came up empty. Overall, it was a step in the right direction. Now we have time before hosting Augusta on Friday to take it to the next level."
Marsters turned away 17 shots in the first period including a tremendous save by lunging to his right to rob the Sea Wolves' Travis Lisabeth in front of the IceGators net.
Mississippi (4-5-1) netminder Matt Underhill was sharp in the first period as well, turning aside all seven shots in a scoreless opening stanza.
At 10:59 of the second, Pat O'Leary solved Marsters on the Sea Wolves 24th shot of the game by banging home his first goal of the season in front of the IceGators net. Mike Martone and Jeff Hutchins picked up assists.
Louisiana (4-1-1) tied the score at the 18:42 mark of the middle stanza. Randy Dagenais moved in from the left point and sailed a shot over the shoulder of Underhill to net his first of the campaign. Mike Omicioli and Wes Mason garnered helpers.
In the shootout, David Bararuk and Pascal Pelletier tallied for Louisiana.
In the fourth round of the shootout, Mississippi's Bobby Cunningham was unable to beat Marsters, who won his pro debut in thrilling fashion.
Mississippi went 0-for-8 on the power play, while Louisiana failed to score on five man advantage chances. Sea Wolves outshot the IceGators 43-25.
