Hot Rods Take Down Cougars 5-4

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods won a closely contested ballgame against the Kane County Cougars by a score of 5-4. An eighth inning rally broke the tie and put the Hot Rods on top.

Kane County once again got the scoring started in the very first inning. This time it was a solo home run from 1B Yoel Yanqui that put the Cougars on top 1-0.

The Hot Rods responded in a big way in the bottom of the third inning. 1B Jim Haley got everything started with a leadoff single, and scored on a double from 3B Zach Rutherford to tie up the game. SS Taylor Walls singled home Rutherford and C Ronaldo Hernandez brought everyone home with a two run home run to make the score 4-1

The Cougars responded quickly in the fourth when RF Ernie De La Trinidad leadoff with a single, and scored on a double from 3B Yan Sanchez and the score was 4-2.

Kane County got their third run in the fifth thanks to a solo home run from DH Eudy Ramos and tied up the game in the seventh inning when 2B Jancarlos Cintron hit a one out single, and scored on a single from CF Gabriel Maciel and it was knotted up at four.

In the eighth inning the Hot Rods broke the tie when C Ronaldo Hernandez singled to lead off the inning, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. DH Trey Hair singled to score Hernandez and give the Hot Rods the lead.

RHP Tyler Zombro shutdown the Cougars in both innings he worked, as he retired the final six batters without allowing anything. He picked up his seventh win of the season.

The Hot Rods and the Captains will conclude their series tomorrow at 6:35pm CST at Bowling Green Ballpark. LHP Resly Linares (2-2, 4.62) gets the start for Bowling Green, and LHP Mack Lemieux (2-6, 3.74) opposes him for Kane County.
