
Hot Rods Drop Late Decision to the Cubs, 6-3

SOUTH BEND, IN - The Bowling Green Hot Rods dropped the series finale in South Bend tonight, 6-3. The Hot Rods finish the road trip at 5-4.
The Cubs got on the board in the bottom of the first. Leadoff hitter CF Zach Davis reached on an infield single and scored two batters later, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the second, DH Devin Davis singled with one away. CF Carl Chester followed with a two-run home run to left field, giving the Hot Rods a 2-1 lead.
The lead swelled to 3-1 in the sixth when 2B Trey Hair scored on an RBI single from C Ronaldo Hernandez.
Unfortunately for the Hot Rods, the Cubs rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh and got an insurance run in the eighth to take a 6-3 win, splitting the quick two game series.
The Hot Rods return home tomorrow to take on the Cubs in the first of two games. The Hot Rods will send out LHP Josh Fleming (5-1, 1.19), while the Cubs starter has not been announced. First pitch from Bowling Green Ballpark is set for 6:35pm.
