MONDAY NIGHT: The TinCaps beat the Loons, 11-3, in a game that went 3 hours and 50 minutes. With the win, the TinCaps have won 8 of their last 10 games since starting the 2nd half 0-2. Four players recorded multi hit performances (Robbie Podorsky, Luis Campusano, Esteury Ruiz, and Juan Fernandez). Aaron Leasher put in a solid outing going 5 1/3 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and striking out 5 batters. The Mount Pleasant native pitched about 30 minutes away from home in front of family and friends in the win.
PINCH "HITTER": Manager Anthony Contreras is off yesterday and today (the Padres allow Minor League managers and coaches to take a limited amount of time off during the season to spend with family). Kevin Hooper, San Diego's Minor League Infield Coordinator. Hooper, who played in the majors for the Tigers from 2005-06. "Hoop" filled in for Contreras @ Great Lakes last year, too, from Aug. 5-8 when the 'Caps swept a 4-game series. Hooper is in his 3rd season with the Padres after previously managing the Wichita Winguts of the independent American Association for 7 years from 2009-15. He was a 3-time Manager of the Year, going 422-270 (.610) and led Wichita to the 2014 American Association title.
HOT CAPS: The TinCaps have won 8 of their last 10 games, with their only Fort Wayne has outscored its opponents 52-29 during this stretch.
SPENDING SPREE: The Padres were the most active team in the MLB yesterday in terms of the international signing period. According to MLB.com, the Padres have signed 16 prospects, 9 more than any other team in the MLB (Pirates signed 7). The Padres could not sign any individual prospect for more than $300,000 as they are 1 of 8 teams in the penalty for exceeding their international bonus pool under the previous CBA. San Diego has reaped success in the international signing period as 16 of its top 30 prospects are international signings. There are currently 9 international prospects on the TinCaps roster.
SMOETHING ABOUT THE LOONS: Robbie Podorsky has raked against the Loons this season. In 6 games against Great Lakes, Robbie is slashing .556/.586/.741 with a double, 2 triples, 9 runs scored, 6 RBIs, and 5 stolen bases. Podorsky went 5-for-5 and 4-for-5 in games earlier this season vs. the Loons. Podorsky went 3-for-5 last night with 2 RBIs, a walk, and a run scored.
ARIAS RISES: Shortstop Gabriel Arias was hitting .200 after June 7. Over his last 19 games, Arias has hit .277 with 2 doubles, a homer, and 10 RBIs.

ADVANCED STATS LEAGUE LEADERS: Jeisson Rosario is 8th in BB% (15%) and 10th in BB/K (0.75)... Tirso Ornelas has the 9th lowest Swing & Miss% (7%).
BULLPEN BOOMERANG: TinCaps relievers have posted a 2.95 ERA over the last 63 games since April 25. In this time, the 'pen has been led by Travis Radke, Caleb Boushley, Evan Miller, and Ben Sheckler. Through the first 19 games of the year, the bullpen had allowed 60 ER in 72.1 IP for a 7.47 ERA.
