Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Beloit, WI - The Quad Cities River Bandits were locked in a 1-1 tie with the Beloit Snappers at Pohlman Field on Tuesday night when the game was suspended due to lack of lighting. One of the light standards behind the left field wall went out in the fifth inning and when the game reached the middle of the sixth inning with the sun setting, the conditions were ruled to be unplayable.
The Bandits took the game's first lead in the top of the second inning. Scott Schreiber dropped a pop up in the infield behind the mound with one out to reach base. David Hensley followed with a double into the left center gap that plated Schreiber and gave the River Bandits a 1-0 lead.
In the home half of the fourth inning, Beloit pulled even with a big two-out hit. After Hunter Hargrove reached with a walk and was on first base, Mickey McDonald ripped a two-out, two-strike triple down the right field line to even the score.
Bandits starting pitcher Jairo Solis had worked 5.0 innings and set a new career-high with eight strikeouts.
The game will be resumed as part of a modified doubleheader when the River Bandits return to Beloit in August. A date will be announced at a later time.
The River Bandits (6-6, 46-36) and Snappers (5-6, 32-38) will continue this series in Davenport as the four-game set shifts to Modern Woodmen Park on Wednesday. RHP Enoli Paredes (2-3, 1.50) will take the ball against Beloit LHP Jared Poche (3-6, 4.67). There will be post-game fireworks presented by Smart Toyota and the Bandits will wear special patriotic uniforms that will be auctioned during the game.
All River Bandits games are broadcast on 1170 K-BOB and TuneIn Radio. Home games are also available with video on MiLB.TV.
