MANCHESTER, NH - The Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Manchester Monarchs, raised $4,000 for the Monarchs Care Foundation at the annual Hockey 101: For Women Only event at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Tuesday, Monarchs Vice President of Community Affairs Cheryl Abbott announced today.

The annual event gives women the opportunity to come the Verizon Wireless Arena and learn about the sport of hockey from the Monarchs players and coaching staff. They received a tour of the locker room, participated in a question and answer segment in the club lounge and received an on-ice instruction from head coach Jim Hughes and Monarchs players Ryan Flinn, Noah Clarke, Doug Nolan and Barry Brust. The women's favorite event was the "Dress A Hockey Player" segment where Nolan explained how to put on hockey equipment while right wing Petr Kanko demonstrated the procedure.

"We are pleased to have raised $4,000 for the Monarchs Care Foundation through this event," said Abbott. "Hockey 101 was a huge success and we look forward to teaching more ladies about hockey at next year's event."

The Monarchs face the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday, November 18 at 7:05 p.m. before they return home on Saturday, November 19 to host the Lowell Lock Monsters at 7:35 p.m.
