Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Milwaukee, WI - Bulldogs goaltender Cristobal Huet made 38 saves in his first game of the season, but it was not enough as Hamilton fell 3-1 to the Milwaukee Admirals on Wednesday night at the Bradley Center. The loss stopped the Bulldogs three-game winning streak and dropped the team's record to 7-8-0-1.
The first two periods were scoreless, with Milwaukee out-shooting Hamilton by a total of 27 to 19.
Darren Haydar potted his third goal of the season at 12:38 of the third period to open the scoring with the Admirals on the power play. Milwaukee defenseman Greg Zanon dumped the puck into the Hamilton zone, and it bounced off the end boards and directly in front of the Bulldogs net. Haydar then picked up the loose puck and backhanded a shot past Huet.
The Admirals took a 2-0 lead at 18:21 when Greg Classen snapped a shot past Huet. With Huet on the bench in favour of an extra attacker, Jordin Tootoo gave Milwaukee a 3-0 lead by scoring his second of the season into an empty net with 23 seconds left.
Hamilton forward Garth Murray rounded out the scoring with just 13 second remaining in the game when he fired a shot from in close that beat Milwaukee goaltender Pekka Rinne. Murray's goal was his first of the season and as a Bulldog.
Huet was assigned by the Montreal Canadiens to Hamilton for conditioning purposes on November 14 and spent the first part of the season recovering from off-season knee surgery. He was named the game's third star.
Hamilton goaltender Huet stopped 38 of 40 shots, while Rinne made 24 saves for Milwaukee to earn the win.
Hamilton was 0 for 5 on the power play while Milwaukee scored once on four opportunities with the man-advantage.
The Bulldogs next action will take place on Friday, November 18, when they meet the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights for the first time. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
The Bulldogs next home game will take place on Friday, November 25, when the Cleveland Barons visit Copps Coliseum for the third time this season.
