Calgary Hitmen News Release
Prince Albert, SK - The Calgary Hitmen played their second game in as many nights in Saskatchewan tonight with a stop in Prince Albert against the Raiders.
Calgary skated to their second win in a row on the road, defeating the home team 3-1. Sean Tschigerl opened up the scoring ten minutes into the first, deflecting in a shot from defenceman Blake Heward. Less than five minutes later Maxim Muranov beat Prince Albert netminder Tikhon Chaika off the faceoff giving Calgary the two-goal lead.
Prince Albert scored their lone goal of the game coming from Ryder Ritchie on the power play five minutes into the second. The scoreboard would remain dormant for the rest of the period and the majority of the third, due in part to a stellar performance from Calgary's Ethan Buenaventura between the pipes. With Chaika on the bench, Tomis Marinkovic threw one from behind Calgary's goal line finding the Prince Albert net and securing the victory.
Ethan Buenaventura earned first star for the second game in a row making 42 saves.
Calgary has now surpassed the midway point of their 68-game regular season schedule. The team currently sits with a 20-11-3-1 record and is tied with the Moose Jaw Warriors for the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference.
Calgary is back on the ice Friday, Jan. 6 in Moose Jaw before wrapping up their four-game road trip in Regina on Sunday. The Hitmen will then return to Calgary to play their next five on home ice. It all begins Friday, Jan. 13 at Scotiabank Saddledome against the Swift Current Broncos. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
