Halifax, NS - Giants captain Zack Ostapchuk and Team Canada defeated Czechia 3-2 in overtime to secure a second consecutive World Juniors Gold Medal. Ostapchuk registered two goals and an assist for three points in seven games during the tournament. Ostapchuk, who was also on August's Canadian World Junior squad, joins Giants Trainer Mike Burnstein as the only Giants to win World Junior Gold more than once.

Samuel Honzek's Slovak team lost in the Quarterfinals to Canada on January 2.
