Clay Hanus to Play U Sports Hockey at Mount Royal University

Portland, Ore - The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club are proud to share former captain Clay Hanus has enrolled at Mount Royal University and will join the Cougars hockey team for the second half of the 2022-23 Canada West season.
Hanus began the season playing two games for the Wheeling Nailers, ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, after signing an American Hockey League contract with the Penguins last summer.
The Minnetonka, Minn. native enjoyed a career year in Portland last season, setting career bests with 18 goals, 56 assists and 74 points while playing in all 68 regular season games. The 5-foot-10, 174-pound defenseman was recognized as a U.S. Division First Team All-Star and finished his career in the Rose City with 142 points in 257 games.
He will join fellow Winterhawks alumni Lane Gilliss (2016-20) and Shane Farkas (2017-19) at Mount Royal University.
