
Americans Look to Continue Home Hot Streak

Tri-City Americans News Release
The Americans will play a pair of home games this weekend at the Toyota Center, where they have been exceptionally successful lately. Tri-City has won their last eight games at home and have an overall 12-4-0-0 record at the Toyota Center.
Tonight they will take on the Vancouver Giants for the first time in their four-game season series. The two teams are currently tied in the conference standings with 34 points. Tri-City has two more regulation victories than Vancouver, placing the Americans in 5th and the Giants in 6th.
Tri-City was 2-2-0-0 against Vancouver last season with the away team winning all four games. Their most recent meeting was March 16 in Langley when the Americans earned a 2-1 overtime victory.
Both teams come into tonight's game with a one-game winning trend. Vancouver defeated Victoria 4-3 in a shootout in their most recent game. While the Americans played downed the Chiefs in overtime 7-6 on New Year's Eve.
Tyson Greenway opened scoring for the Americans but Tri-City fell behind, trailing by two late in the game. The Ams capitalized on late power play opportunities with a goal from Jake Sloan at 17:21 and one from Reese Belton at 19:12 to tie the game. Parker Bell scored the winning goal just 17 seconds into the extra frame. It was the first overtime goal of his WHL career.
Tri-City scored on four of six power plays. The Ams power play is the best in the league at home with 33.3% success.
Nick Avakyan played the full game in net for the Americans, turning aside 32 of 38 shots faced.
