January 13, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB- The Calgary Hitmen played the first of two weekend home games tonight when they welcomed the Swift Current Broncos to Scotiabank Saddledome.
Newly acquired forward Carter MacAdams started off his campaign with Calgary on a high note registering a goal and an assist in tonight's 6-3 win over Swift Current. The visitors were the first to open up the scoring with a goal from Caleb Wyrostok. MacAdams followed up tying the game with assists from Jacob Wright and Riley Fiddler-Schultz. Mathew Ward would add one more for Swift Current before the end of the first period on the power play. Carson Wetsch and London Hoilett would each add one in the second period to give Calgary their first lead of the game. Jacob Wright would find the back of the net with ten minutes left to go in the period. This would prove to be the game winning goal.
Swift Current closed the two goal lead to one with a marker from Brady Birnie in the third period, but goals from Riley Fiddler-Schultz and Oliver Tulk would secure the win for Calgary.
MacAdams earned first star, while Wright earned third star with his two point effort. Calgary's record now improves to 22-12-3-1 putting them in fifth place in the Eastern Conference tied with Lethbridge.
The Hitmen are back in the 'Dome on Sunday, Jan. 15 to host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Game time is 4:00 p.m. for another Sunday Funday, presented by Brookfield Residential. In addition to $2 sips and snacks specials all game long, look for concourse activities from TELUS Spark and a cast of characters outfitted by the Costume Shoppe. There are also $6 Hitmen Happy Hour food and drink deals throughout the day and a post-game family skate.
