Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
BRANDON M.B. - A pair of 3rd period goals from the Medicine Hat Tigers proves to be enough as the Wheat Kings fall to the Tigers 4-3 Friday night.
Heading into this game the Wheat Kings were outsourced 11-2 by the Tigers in two games which were both played in Medicine Hat. This time around the Tigers visited Westoba Place against a motivated Wheat Kings team looking at hitting .500 for the first time since early October. It was a better period this time around for the Wheat Kings with Nolan Ritchie scoring the opening goal shorthanded off a feed from Zakhar Polshakov to make it 1-0. Then 8 minutes later Cru Hanas would find Hunter St Martin in the slot allowing the Medicine Hat Tigers to tie the game up heading into the second period.
The second period started with relentless pressure inside the Wheat Kings zone, but Carson Bjarnason stood tall making some key stops. The Wheat Kings would go on a powerplay with under 8 minutes remaining in the period. During the man advantage Nolan Ritchie would find Nate Danielson off the rush allowing Danielson to score his team leading 22nd of the year to make it 2-1 Wheat Kings. It wouldn't take long for the Tigers to tie the game when Rhett Parson placed a shot from the point through traffic which would go off the stick of Dallon Melin and in to tie the game up at two heading into the third period. The Tigers outshot the Wheat Kings 16-6 in the second period alone.
The Tigers came out flying to start period three but once again Carson Bjarnason kept it tied at two. With under 13 minutes remaining the Wheat Kings would restore the lead when Luke Shipley found Evan Groening coming off the bench allowing Groening to score his 4th of the season to take a 3-2 Wheat Kings lead. The Tigers would once again score the equalizer when Dallon Melin fired a puck top shelf with over 7 minutes left scoring his 2nd of the night. Then with 3 minutes remaining Melin would spring Cayden Lindstrom loose on a breakaway giving the Tigers their first lead of the game. The Wheat Kings would push in the final couple minutes but couldn't tie it up allowing the Tigers to escape with a 4-3 win on the road.

Puck drop at 7:00pm from Westoba Place in Brandon.
