
Bedard Hat-Trick, Pats Top Blades 7-4

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats extended their winning-streak to two games as Connor Bedard tallied five points, including a hat-trick in a 7-4 triumph over the Saskatoon Blades at the Brandt Centre in front of 5,651 fans on Friday night.
Connor Bedard scored a hat-trick (32nd, 33rd, and 34th) as part of a five-point game to lead the Pats to their 20th victory of the season. Zack Stringer (second), Steel Quiring (first with the Pats and fourth overall), Braxton Whitehead (fourth), and Borya Valis (15th) also scored for the Pats in the win. Stanislav Svozil tallied four assists in his first game back from the World Juniors, and Drew Sim kicked out 21 of 25 shots for his 16th win of the season.
The Pats had led 3-2 after two before unloading for four goals in the final frame, earning their first victory of the season against the Blades. The seven goals against Saskatoon were the most that the Blades had given up all season long.
Trevor Wong (14th), Egor Sidorov (19th), Brandon Lisowsky (21st), and Tanner Molendyk (fifth) replied for the Blades in the loss. Ethan Chadwick stopped 18 of 25 shots for the Blades. Saskatoon has now dropped six of their last seven games (1-3-3-0)
THE GOALS
First Period
REG 1-0 at 14:44 - Connor Bedard (32), assisted by Stanislav Svozil and Alexander Suzdalev (PP) // Svozil left the puck at the blueline for Bedard who cut through the slot and to the top of the circle where he fired home a laser to give the Pats a 1-0 lead.
SAS 1-1 at 15:12 - Trevor Wong (14), assisted by Brandon Lisowsky // Lisowsky caused a turnover deep in the Pats' zone where he sent a pass to the front of the net and Wong tied the game for the Blades just 28 seconds after the opening marker.
Second Period
REG 2-1 at 12:16 - Zack Stringer (2), assisted by Tanner Howe and Svozil (PP) // Svozil sent a pass to Howe at the right circle who found Stringer standing in front of the Blades net, his first deflection was stopped but he grabbed the rebound and chipped it past Chadwick to give the Pats a 2-1 lead.
REG 3-1 at 12:54 - Steel Quiring (4), assisted by Tanner Brown and Borya Valis // Brown's long-range shot was stopped by Chadwick, but Quiring found the rebound and as he was falling to a knee, he shot the puck past the Blades goaltender and just 38 seconds later, the Pats took a two-goal lead at 3-1.
SAS 3-2 at 19:52- Egor Sidorov (19), assisted by Aidan De Le Gorgendiere and Tyler Wong (PP) // With the Blades on a late powerplay, Sidorov made the Pats pay as his shot from the slot beat a screened Sim to pull the Blades to within a single at 3-2 with just 7.8 seconds left in the second period.
Third Period
REG 4-2 at 2:20- Braxton Whitehead (4), assisted by Connor Bedard and Layton Feist (SH) // With the Pats on a penalty kill, Bedard and Whitehead found themselves on a two-on-one. With Bedard along the right wing, he fed a pass to Whitehead who one-timed it past Chadwick to extend the Pats lead to a pair at 4-2.
SAS 4-3 at 12:33 - Brandon Lisowsky (21), assisted by Jake Chiasson and Trevor Wong (PP) // The Blades worked a fantastic passing play on the powerplay with Lisowsky burying the puck to get the Blades to within one at 4-3.
REG 5-3 at 13:36 - Connor Bedard (33), assisted by Alexander Suzdalev and Stanislav Svozil // After a nice pass from Suzdalev, Bedard was able to break in on Chadwick and he tucked a nice shot five-hole to give the Pats a two-goal lead at 5-3.
REG 6-3 at 15:17 - Connor Bedard (34), assisted by Tanner Howe // Bedard received a breakaway pass from Howe, made a nice move and fired the puck past Chadwick's outstretched glove.
REG 7-3 at 15:34 - Borya Valis (15), assisted by Connor Bedard and Stanislav Svozil (4-on-4) // With the teams playing four-on-four, Bedard sent a cross-ice pass to Valis who buried a one-timer to give the Pats a four-goal lead at 7-3.
REG 7-4 at 15:53 - Tanner Molendyk (5), assisted by Lukas Hansen (4-on-4) // The Blades pulled to within three as Molendyk scored with the teams playing four-on-four and cut the lead to three at 7-4.

NOTES
Connor Bedard extended his point streak to 29 games with a first-period snipe. He added an assist in the third period to get his career point total to 200. He finished the game with five points (3G-2A) and now has 54 points in his last 18 games.
In his first game since returning from captaining Team Czechia to a silver medal at the 2023 World Juniors, Stanislav Svozil tied a career-high with four assists.
Forward Steel Quiring made his Pats' debut after being acquired from the Everett Silvertips at the Trade Deadline for a fourth-round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft. He is the 1,251st skater to play in a regular season or playoff game in Pats' history and the 1,417th including the goalies. His debut was successful as he scored a goal in the middle stanza.
Alexander Suzdalev picked up two assists to extend his streak to a pair of games (1G-3A).
Tanner Howe also collected two assists to extend his point-streak to two games (1G-2A).
The Pats improved to 3-4 in the second half of the season.
In the last two games, the Pats' special teams have been on fire as they are 5/10 the powerplay while killing 8/10 penalties with three shorthanded markers.
The attendance was 5,651 - which was the largest crowd of the season.
UP NEXT
The Pats close out their four-game homestand on Saturday, January 14th when they host the Portland Winterhawks with a 7:00 P.M. face-off at the Brandt Centre. It's the Winterhawks' first visit to Regina since January 9, 2019, a 5-2 loss.
