
Bedard & Valis on 2023 NHL Central Scouting Mid-Season Rankings

Regina, Sask. - Regina Pats captain Connor Bedard and right-winger Borya Valis have each been named to NHL Central Scouting's 2023 NHL Draft Mid-Season Rankings, which were announced Friday.
Bedard, 17, is ranked first amongst all North American skaters. He leads all WHL players in points (70), shots (188), assists (39) and second in goals (31) in just 29 games this season, averaging 2.41 points per-game which leads the league. The North Vancouver, B.C. product is currently on a career and league best 29 game point-streak with all 70 points over that stretch.
The 5-foot-10, 185 lb. centre is coming off a 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship where he was named the 2023 WJC MVP, Best Forward, to the WJC All-Star Team, and WJC Top 3 Player on Canada. He also led the tournament in points (23), goals (9), assists (14), and plus/minus (+14), setting the all-time record for points by a Canadian at the World Juniors as well as career goals (17) and points (36) by a Canadian at the World Juniors. He has now won back-to-back gold medals with Canada at the World Juniors.
Valis, 18, is ranked 183rd amongst all North American Skaters. The 6-foot-2, 85 lb. forward has tallied 32 points (14G-18A) in 36 games this season with the Pats. The Denver, CO product is in his second year with the Pats, recording 57 career WHL points (25G-32A) in 93 games.
The Pats are back in action tonight against the Saskatoon Blades at 7:00 p.m. inside the Brandt Centre.
