Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Outfielder Sam Hilliard and right-handed pitcher Rico Garcia have been promoted from the Isotopes to the Colorado Rockies. Hilliard and Garcia will both be making their Major League debuts when they play their first games with the Rockies.

Hilliard, 25, is in the midst of a record-setting season with the Isotopes. The outfielder has set the Isotopes single-season record for runs scored (109) and extra-base hits (71).

The Mansfield, Texas native's 109 runs scored and 126 games played rank first in the PCL, while Hilliard's 35 home runs and 279 total bases rank third. His 101 RBI are fifth-best in the circuit at the time of his promotion.

Hilliard is one three players in all of Minor League Baseball with at least 30 home runs and 20 stolen bases (Kyle Tucker, Luis Robert).

Garcia, 25, was promoted to the Isotopes on June 20 from Double-A Hartford. With Albuquerque, the right-hander is 2-4 with a 7.16 ERA in 12 games. Overall in 2019, the Honolulu, Hawaii native is 10-6 with a 4.23 ERA, 132 strikeouts and 47 walks.

Garcia surrendered three runs or fewer in seven of his 12 starts with the Isotopes.
