Hershey Calls-up Three; Reassigns Gordon to the Rays

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, announced today that rookies Travis Morin and Patrick McNeill as well as Tom Maxwell have been called-up by the Hershey Bears. In a separate transaction, right-winger Andrew Gordon has been reassigned to the Rays from the Bears.

Morin, 23, is coming off a great week in which he had five goals and two assists for seven points in just two games and is currently leading the Stingrays with 13 total points and eight goals. The Brooklyn Park, MN native joined the Stingrays in March of last year following the conclusion of his senior season at Minnesota State University - Mankato where he accumulated 133 points (58g, 75a) in 151 games. The 6'2", 195-pound left winger was a ninth round pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

McNeill, 20, is currently in his rookie season after spending the last four years with the Saginaw Spirit (OHL), where he accumulated 53 goals and 129 assists for 182 points in 249 career junior contests. The Strathroy, Ont. native leads all defensemen with nine points (3g, 6a) in nine games with the Stingrays this season as well as leads the Stingrays in power play points with six (2g, 4a). At 6-foot and 195-pounds, McNeill has one game-winning goal this season in a 4-1 win over Elmira on October 28.

Maxwell, 21, in his second professional season after spending the 2006-07 season with the Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL. In 53 games with the RoadRunners, the Spokane, Wash. native totaled 13 points (5g, 8a) and had 213 penalty minutes, which led all ECHL rookies. This year, the 6'2", 200-pound right winger has three points (1g, 2a) in nine games with the Stingrays and is second in penalty minutes with 28.

Gordon, 21, joins the Stingrays from the Bears in his first professional season following three years at St. Cloud State University. In 120 games with the Huskies, Gordon had 102 points (51g, 51a). This year, in six games with the Bears, the Porters Lake, NS native has two assists for two points. At 5'11", 190-pound, Gordon was a seventh round pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The Stingrays next travel to Charlotte on Wednesday, November 7. The game will be broadcast live on the Real 1340AM; please note this is a change from the originally announced ESPN Radio 910 the Team. The game will start at 7 p.m. with the Benito's Pre-game Show with Voice of the Rays, Josh Heller, beginning at 6:45 p.m. Fans can also tune in by going online to www.stingrayshockey.com.
