Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
VICTORIA SALMON KINGS GAME NOTES Friday, November 9th at Utah Grizzlies
SALMON KINGS HEADLINES: The Salmon Kings go into Friday's match-up after finishing off a very successful five-game home stand. Victoria split the first two games of the home stand versus the Las Vegas Wranglers. They then welcomed the Bakersfield Condors for three games. After the Kings won the first two games, the teams met for the finale at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre last Saturday night. The Kings came out flying in the first period, but it was Bakersfield who got on the board first when Eric Sonnenberg beat Victoria goalie Billy Thompson for the 1-0 lead. The Kings bounced back when Ash Goldie scored to tie the affair at 1-1, and that's how the teams would go to the locker rooms. The Condors broke the tie in the second on a goal by Justin Cheworduk. Kiel McLeod responded for the Kings to tie it at 2-2. Joe Dustin would put Bakersfield back ahead a few minutes later, but again McLeod would tie it up with his second of the night. It was 2-2 after 40 minutes. Ash Goldie would put the Kings up by a goal in the third period, but Brett Lutes would again tie the match-up at 4-4. That is how this one would stay through the overtime period. The Salmon Kings scored on their first three shots of the shootout with Wes Goldie, Ash Goldie and Milan Gajic all beating Condors goalie Jamie Hodson. Billy Thompson was solid for the Kings and stopped three out of four Condor shooters to give Victoria the 5-4 shootout victory. Victoria went 3/8 on the power play and the Condors 2/9. Salmon Kings out shot Bakersfield 42-37
